Regrouping can be hard! Kids have been working in a few different groups on regrouping in subtraction. We've shown them how on a number line, using base-10 blocks, and through the house method (the way we were all taught). Kids went to a supermarket and bought things for their rooms.
We've also looked further at the rock cycle. Of particular interest now is thinking about weathering and how it is more than just rain (physical, chemical, and biological). This was just introduced today.
Tomorrow we are examining one of the 4 countries we will be comparing and contrasting (Tunisia, India, Peru, Ukraine). If your kids want screen time, you could use google street view to drop them in downtown Lima and explore. What do the buildings tell you about how Peruvians live? How is it the same/different from our streets in Calgary?
Please remember that there is no school this Friday as it is a PD day.
Have an outstanding evening,
Mrs. Hordyk
Mr. MacKenzie
