British Bulldog is a game that requires enormous amounts of energy as you sprint from one side of the field to the other and dig deep to find your breath. The kids requested that we play that today during gym, and they did an outstanding job in playing with honor. If you are curious about how that looks, it makes great discussion around the dinner table.
We've been looking at life cycles lately. We rented a video from the library from the class, Bill Nye the Science Guy and had the students write down 3 sentences for:
-I see...
-I think...
-I wonder...
This is the same language that we used at the Glenbow on our field trip when we went through artifacts from around the globe. The students are very impressive with their insights and their thinking. As we explore this concept, we are excited to see what connects are made. (It's already happening as kids explore the critters on the trees at recess)
Upcoming Events:
June 2nd: We will have a guest speaker to talk about the summer reading program at the public library
June 2nd: Bike to school day. Your children will be given the details.
June 10th: In-school field trip where the students will be creating and crafting a playground. Permission forms for this will be going home soon, as will requests for volunteers. If you are able to volunteer, please send an email to your child's teacher.
Question of the Day:
What signs of life cycles did you see outside at recess or inside in the video?
