It is pretty incredible to think that May is just around the bend, these kids have come so far this year! Their abilities to regulate themselves and take appropriate steps to complete work have blown us away. Their goal setting and self-assessment skills have helped to improve their writing dramatically. Their social interactions are always improving as they get older, too.
Of all of the accomplishments above, the kids can add "Paraphrasing" to the list! Today we really focussed on "rewording" using synonyms and "reorganizing" components of what they are researching. In the upcoming classes, the kids are going to be taking jot notes, finding the key vocabulary, organizing based on their questions, and writing new nonfiction paragraphs. This is extremely complex thinking for third grade students, but they continue to impress!
Reminders:
-Tomorrow is Spring Photo Day
-Tomorrow there will be a grade 1 sharing assembly
-If field trip forms have not come in, they are now late and we need them ASAP
Question of the Day:
Please paraphrase the sentences below in your own words.
"Along the ocean, Peruvians fancy themselves quite the fishermen! They eat octopus, fish, shrimp, and other things that come from the sea."
