Grade 3's continually amaze us with their deep thinking by making connections to their knowledge and applying it to new concepts. This was evident in both science and social studies today.
In science, students were shown 4 glasses with varied amounts of water. They were asked to predict which glass would have a high pitch, which would have a low pitch and how did they know. The predictions blew us away!
In social studies, we reviewed the feeling we have when we have a good quality of life, such as "I feel safe. I feel loved. I feel healthy. I feel hopeful that things will get better." Knowing this information, we read a book entitled, "Fly Away Home". We compared and analyzed whether the two characters had a good quality of life. We also inferred what we thought the author might mean by "Then I remembered the bird. It took a while, but a door opened. And the bird left, when it flew free, I know it was singing."
Students completed the math performance tasks 2 - 4 today. We will complete the final stage in the math performance task #5 tomorrow.
Students will have their spelling test tomorrow as well.
Have a wonderful evening!
