The kids absolutely "had it out" today! They debated how land in Alberta should be used, while taking on the characters of John Ware and Sam Livingston. Half of the students sided with ranching while the other half sided with mixed farming. The debate evolved and changed as students began debating environmental protection versus economic development. Their teachers represent the Canadian Government... We'll give our decision tomorrow!
Multiplication is a challenge - we played a new game today. Students flipped a card to represent the number of groups, then flipped another to represent the number of stars in each group. After 3 rounds they added up their points to determine a winner. Player cards will be developed in the very near future to support this game as students use their multiplication and division skills to battle each other.
Upcoming Dates:
Monday, October 12: No school for Thanks Giving.
Links: (some students were asking for these)
Calendar for the month of October.
Calendar for the school year.
Question of the day:
Which is a better way to use our land, farming or ranching? Why?
