Hello,
We had quite an eventful day, beginning with "Read to Self" and then watching an amazing current news clip related to an exciting technological development shown recently in the news. Learners briefly shared some unique perspectives related to robotics and society. It was interesting to consider the current use of technology in contrast with daily life in the early 1900's with the next chapter in Ticket to Curlew. A family's oxen had gone missing and Sam attempts to locate the animals. I'm sure that learners can share with their family how Sam was able to communicate with his family and friend, who does not speak English, without the use of technology.
We later had Literacy Circles, where learners had a "working session." Learners had opportunities to share views with their group through the lens of their particular role. There was some very enriching and fruitful dialogue, well done! Afterwards, we had Gym class, where learners continued their activities with Roller Boards. After a snack break, we continued our work with decimals. This afternoon, learners rotated to the last Bicycle Station. Learners had some time afterwards to record findings in their visual journals.
Please note, that consent forms for the Woodman School Visit need to be returned by tomorrow (Friday), May 27th. Also, tomorrow is the last day for accepting order forms for yearbooks.
Thanks,
Mr. Smith
