We accomplished many things today!
To start off our morning, we introduced the acronym, I PICK. When picking a book , students go through each letter to determine the right book for them. Below shows what each letter means.
I - I can choose my own book.
P - Purpose - Why do I want to read this book?
I - Interest - Am I interested in this topic?
C - Comprehend - Do I understand the book?
K - Know - Do I know what the words mean?
We read the book, "How Full is Your Bucket". We learned that filling other people's bucket also fills our own. We also brainstormed different ways to fill buckets and will be looking for bucket fillers in our school.
To end off the day, we were given a challenge. Using only spaghetti, tape, string and one marshmallow, create the tallest tower. We worked together to make a plan, carry out the plan, make changes and adapt to create our towers in our group. It was not only a lot of fun, but also a learning tool for us to see how well we work together as a team with a common goal.
Tomorrow is Friday, school will be out at 11:15 am.
Have a wonderful evening!
