Today the students learned about Amedeo Modigliani, a famous sculpture and painter. We observed several of his portraits, sharing what we noticed was unique about his artwork. Students noticed that the portraits were "stretched out", were "dark and dull", used lots of shadow, complimentary colors and had dark eyes. The portraits were also more abstract than realistic. Students are beginning to use Modigliani's methods to create their own self-portrait.
We also had an assembly this afternoon. Fundraiser coupon books are coming home today in the student's backpacks!
Question of the day: How much money would we fundraise if everyone in the school sold one coupon book?
