We worked the kids hard today! They were introduced to using a series of actions to begin a story. Their toolboxes are growing, as we have discussed and practiced using sound effects, wonder/worry, and actions to hook the readers' attention. Students also went on a scavenger hunt today, searching for text features in non-fiction books.
We're examining text features for two reasons:
1. After recognizing and analyzing each text feature, students can use them to find important information quickly for research and other purposes.
2. Students can create text features to show what they know about a variety of topics in their visual journals.
Tomorrow we are going to continue our work with the rock cycle and on organizing and classifying rocks and minerals (and other things).
Have a relaxing night!
