What a day! We're pushing the learning until the very last minute of the very last day, so the students are still deep in data analysis, scientific discovery, and story writing. Speaking of which, a couple of the stories are ready to be put up on the blog, so be prepared!
Today, half of the group started work on their journal for their animal/insect's life cycle. Here is one of our favorite quotes from A Diary of a Ladybug:
"Dear Diary, today in gym we practiced playing dead. It was really hard for me to get the yellow goop out of my leg joints!"
This student was able to recognize that playing dead is a survival technique for lady bugs, that should be taught in school!
We are also continuing our work on Picasso's blue period. The students are enormously engaged in creating cubist artwork while studying tinting (adding white to a colour) and shading (adding black). Their work is outstanding, and we can't wait for it to be done. It's unfortunate that we won't have any days left in the school year to display it!
Question of the Day:
What do lady bugs do when they sense a predator is after them?
